Dogajolo

Hi, Scott -- A friend gave me a bottle of Dogajolo (Carpineto, 2001), a red table wine from Tuscany. I googled the name to find what it means and discovered there is a seemingly superior version called Dogajolo IGT and, of course, it's priced differently according to the vintage. My question is this: Is the "Carpineto" like a German "Kabinett" in terms of a quality ranking; if so, is it a second pressing or what; and if so, should I celler it with my private stash or just slam it down with burgers or pizza? On second thought, is it a candidate for "re-gifting" perhaps? And if so, should the recipient be a very good friend or just a casual acquaintance...? And by the way, Scott, when's your birthday? GEORGE
