THANKS FOR A GREAT SERIES OF TASTINGS FOR 2007 AT THE FORT!

In 2008 our Tasting Events will continue to be held on the third Tuesday of each month, except December and follow a specific theme.  The themes may repeat from year to year, but the wines will always be different.  They are an opportunity to taste over 40 (usually over 50) wines that represent the best of their categories in quality, value and price.  We hope to see you there!

We wish to thank the terrific staff at The Fort for their excellent support for the last two years.  It has been a pleasure to work with them.

"Pinot!  Pinot!  Pinot!"

"Pinot" is much more than just Pinot Noir, though some aficionados would say that's plenty.  Other types include Pinot Gris, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc, Pinotage, and Pinot Meunier (a key element in true Champagnes and sparkling wines).  Though it is also famous in Alsace, Pinot gris has become a specialty of Oregon.  California is giving Italy a run for the best Pinot Grigios.  Pinot Blanc is doing very well in both California and Europe.  Pinotage, a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, has become a trademark of South Africa.  The best Blanc de Noir Champagnes are made from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and produce a fuller, more substantial style of sparkling wine.  Then again, Pinot Noir from California, Oregon, New Zealand or France can also be a very special bottle of wine.  Below are some of the "Pinots" that showed the best at our last Tasting Event.  Try one, we think you'll agree.  Come in and see us!  Cheers!
