THANKS FOR A GREAT SERIES OF TASTINGS FOR 2009 AT THE FORT!

In 2010 our Tasting Events will continue as before and follow a specific theme.  The themes may repeat from year to year, but the wines will always be different.  Unless there is a conflict with a major holiday, the Tastings will be held on the third Tuesday of the month.  As always, they will continue to be an opportunity to taste over 40 (usually over 50) wines that represent the best of their categories in quality, value and price.  We hope to see you there!

 We wish to thank the terrific staff at The Fort for their excellent support for the last four years.  It has been a pleasure to work with them.

This is the time of the year to enjoy the finer things in life.  In the context of wine, that includes the best of festive fizz, robust reds and delectable dessert wines.  For example, while there are excellent sparkling wines from various locales around the world, there is something unique about French Champagne.  Whether it is a Non-vintage Brut, a Blanc de Blancs, a Blanc de Noirs or a Tête de Cuvée, it has been subject to rigorous regulation throughout its vinification, and this shows in the elegance of the finished product.  Massive, magisterial reds are a similar pleasure.  Though they can come from virtually any wine producing area, there is just something very special about a hugely concentrated, deeply complex Cabernet, Shiraz, Merlot, Italian Super-Tuscan or top-flight California Zinfandel, to mention just a few.  Bring on the red meat and don't apologize!  Likewise with dessert wines.  Now is also the time for Late-Harvest Rieslings, unctuous Oloroso Sherries, rich and powerful Ports, honeyed Sauternes and Vin Santos.  We've waited,  budgeted and counted calories all year waiting for the Holiday Season and now it's here.  It's time to splurge a little and try that wine (or wines) that we have been looking forward to all year long.  We hope you enjoy some of the ones featured below.  As always, pink signs are sale signs.  Come in and see us!
